Last week The Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) in collaboration with Atkins has published a white paper on Digital Twins for Built Environment at Digital Construction Week 2019 in London-UK .
“Digital twins are rapidly becoming perceived as must haves in engineering. As digital replicas of real-world infrastructure, the potential benefits are easy to grasp: a direct application of computing power to complex, tangible problems in the physical world. Useful across industries, they can bring greater accuracy, control and predictability to a range of challenges.
The global digital twin market was valued at USD $3.8bn in 2019 and is expected to reach USD $35.8bn by 2025. Half of all large industrial companies are predicted to be using them in some form by 2021, which is expected to result in a 10 per cent increase in effectiveness.” – Source: The IET Digital Twin 2019 whitepaper.
